Among the many accomplishments of JJJJound, simplifying the tastes of the Instagram era will be its legacy. It’s easy to reduce the brand’s identity as “minimal”; some marvel at Justin Saunders’ discerning eye, while others liken the brand’s product as an expensive Uniqlo. Whatever side you’re on, it’s true that their collaborations are often basic color swatches of already-existing silhouettes, making it difficult for some to really understand if JJJJound is all hype, or if there’s beauty behind the basic.
Their upcoming GEL-Kayano 14 is the perfect of example of this conundrum. Truth be told, both the yellow and blue colorways look no different from the general releases that ASICS has been mightily pumping out over the last few years. We must point out, however, that for a silhouette like the GEL-Kayano 14, color-blocking is everything. Said “GR” releases often clear out at the $150 MSRP and sell for more than double on the secondary market.
But, we digress. The market for the Montreal brand’s products is as robust as ever, and their next JJJJound ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 collab might be the top release of this week. The collab is set to launch on June 12th, 2025 on JJJJound.com (11 AM ET) and select retailers including ASICS overseas, atmos, and other global retailers.
